Monette Baliton Velasco works as a production assistant for the IEEE Computer Society. She works on graphics design/production/Web site design for six magazines, including IEEE Internet Computing and IEEE Distributed Systems Online. Her last gig was as a Kim understudy in the second national tour of Miss Saigon. Fun facts: She had a kidney transplant in Dec. 1999 (thanks, Tito Ariel!) and survived injuries to her ribs and liver in 2001. Yippee.

Zoot works as a consultant for non-profit organizations, and previously was the art center director for the Harbor City Boys & Girls Club, as well as the Performing Arts Firehouse and Banning's Landing in the South Bay. He is currently on the board of the San Pedro Ballet.

Monette's Family

Mario Velasco works at Southwest Pipe as a sales manager. He is best known for being the #1 Lakers fan of all time, his obsessive love of the movies (especially bad ones with explosions) and his love of the Pancake Sandwich at Mimi's Cafe, where he can be found nearly every Sunday.

Myrna Baliton Velasco teaches English at Moreno Valley High School. She is active at their parish, St. Paul the Apostle, leading the Divine Mercy Group. She loves reading and eating new and different foods. This family would be absolutely nowhere without her constant love and support.

Merrick Velasco is the baby of the family. He graduated from the University of Southern California in 2000, with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science. He freelances in Web site design and computer programming. In his spare time, he sings karaoke and hangs out all over the L.A. area. He recently scared Monette when she walked in on him watching Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon.
